1) When posting, you are expected to use proper English grammar. '1337'-speak, ALL CAPS, and other languages are frowned upon all over the board, as well as poor grammar. If you cannot construct proper sentences at Middle School level, you may have to reassess your capability to perform on a text-based role-playing game.
2) Post-Flooding, Double-Posting, Update Requests, and Thread-Bumping are all forbidden. Use the edit function to fix posts, and politely request a staffer to review a post you have in the appropriate forum.
3) You must be accepted on the board with a character before you can roleplay. Do not post in any In-Character (IC) forums without having a join posted and approved by the staff.
4) Hotlinking -the act of directly posting an image from a site you do not have permission to post from- is forbidden and illegal. Doing so is a good way to quickly have your work deleted.
5) This board can be considered 'R-rated', and would be expected to be followed as such. This means that violent acts and modest sexuality is permitted, but excessively graphic violence and what would be considered 'written pornography' or 'cybering' is not allowed. Keep it tasteful, keep it realistic.
6) Spamming is not allowed; however, properly written advertisements can be placed in the appropriate forum of the same name. In addition, if your board is approved by the administration, it may be allowed to share affiliation with Gates. Please use the EZInbox feature of EZBoard to communicate this.
7) Flaming, trolling, and any other aggressive verbal attacks on other members or the board itself, is not allowed. While you are not being told to like everyone here, you are expected to be civil with them. Any issues you may have with ANYONE should be brought to the attention of staff if it causes an issue with you participating here. Sarcasm and joking is more than acceptable, but if someone asks you to stop, it should end at that.
8) Anyone found intentionally attempting to skate the rules and disrupt the community as a whole, whether in the gameplay sense, or otherwise, will be subject to punishment.
9) All of the above rules also apply to chat, with a degree of freedom to fit the generally relaxed mood of the chat room. However, a Mod should never have to tell you more than once when you're pushing the limit of that freedom. Never PM a staffer without consulting them first, and remember that the Chat is a privilege that a staff member can revoke at any time, for any reason.
10) From 9 AM to 9 PM EST, the chat is to be considered restricted from inappropriate and offensive material. This includes links, discussion, and language. 9 PM to 9 AM EST is completely open; we warn that those underage should realize the content of the chat in the later hours to be of a more mature variety. As said prior, staff have the freedom to boot at their judgment, based on their perspective of the chat population at that moment.
11) The Gundam Gates Wiki is considered an integral part of the board, despite it being on its own website. Therefore, it is considered a privilege to be able to edit and make your own articles on it. Anyone attempting to edit pages they should not (pages not relating to the player's character or mobile suit) without permission of a staffer can be banned from editing on the wiki and punished on the board as well, based on the severity of the action.
